Benefits

  • LexisNexis® Community Crime Map
    This free online crime map allows law enforcement to share selected crime data and important alerts with the public.
  • Controlled Information Release
    Agencies decide what information to publish so that investigations aren’t compromised and sensitive data, i.e. addresses and names, is kept private.
  • Build Trust
    Share selected crime data with the local citizens. Encourage community policing and support, such as through anonymous tips.
  • Alert Citizens
    Notify public in real-time about nearby criminal activity so they can make decisions about how to stay safe.
  • Promote Awareness
    Provide sex offender data that help citizens exercise caution to protect themselves and their families.
  • Accuracy
    Data uploaded twice daily from the YPD Records Management System.
    Events = reports taken.
    Due to record processing delay all reports taken may have a 7-10 day delay. All reports taken may not be visible to the public due to content or victim age.  When multiple crimes may have occurred at a single event only the most serious crime type is categorized.
    Example:  Arson may be a secondary crime under a homicide if a person was killed within the fire.
