The Yuma Fire Department Utilizes the High Security Knox Box system for rapid entry. The key box shall be mounted between 4 feet to 6 feet on an exterior wall, adjacent to the main entrance, or another pre-approved location determined by Community Risk Reduction. The key box shall contain current building keys that will provide access through the main access entrance and into areas that house the fire sprinkler riser and/or fire alarm control panel. Depending on the occupancy, additional keys for access may be required. When multiple keys are stored in the key box, each key shall have a tag affixed to identify its use. A card shall be stored within the key box with the following information:
1.The name and telephone number of a local responsible party who is available to respond to the scene on a 24-hour basis.
2. The name and telephone number of the alarm company.
3. The location of the fire alarm control panel and fire sprinkler riser.
It shall be the responsibility of the owner or the occupant to assure that the information on the recall card is current. The City of Yuma Fire Department must be notified of all changes. Applications for Knox Boxes are available in Fire Administration at City Hall (One City Plaza, Yuma, AZ 85364), or online authorization and order can be done at www.KnoxBox.com.
