Solid Waste Rate Adjustments:
The Yuma City Council has adopted new solid waste residential fees regarding residential collection and environmental solid waste fees. These changes relate to increased costs for collection, as provided by City of Yuma Resolution 2018-002. The public hearing date is June 5, 2024.
Through Resolution 2018-002, Solid Waste may increase fees annually by 3% or the current Consumer Price Index (CPI), whichever is less. In the Bureau of Labor Statistics Report dated March, 2024 the Water, Sewer and Trash CPI increase for the period of March 2023 to March 2024 is 5.3%. As 3% is less than the CPI of 5.3%, the fee increase will be 3%.
The FY 2025 budget is effective August 1, 2024 and the increase would become effective that same date.
The residential collection fee is increasing from $7.65 per month to $7.88 per month. The environmental solid waste fee is increasing from $7.92 per month to $8.16 per month.
