In Arizona, there are 3 types of misdemeanor classifications, including:

• Class 1 - A class 1 misdemeanor carries a maximum punishment of 6 months in jail, a fine up to $4,498 and 3 years of probation.
• Class 2 - A class 2 misdemeanor carries a maximum punishment of 4 months in jail, a fine up to $1383 and 2 years of probation.
• Class 3 - A class 3 misdemeanor carries a maximum punishment of 30 days in jail, a fine up to $938 and 1 year of probation.

Traffic violations are generally divided into two categories, parking violations and moving violations. Moving violations are the more serious of the two and carry stiffer consequences. Moving violations are either civil traffic violations or criminal traffic violations. Examples of civil traffic violations are unlawful lane change or running a red light. Criminal traffic violations include felony or misdemeanor driving under the influence (DUI), speeding in a school zone, reckless endangerment, vehicular manslaughter, driving without insurance, and driving on a suspended license.

Please Note: From the date you receive your violation, it can take up to 10 working days for the citation to be filed with the court by the Police Department and entered into our system.

If after 30 days the parking ticket has not been paid, a reminder letter will be sent to the vehicle’s registered owner and a $20.00 late payment fee will be added.

• City Code Ordinance Violation Class 1 - The possible range of sentence for the offense charged ranges from a suspended sentence to a maximum of 10 DAYS jail and/or a fine up to $1,828.00, and the mandatory minimum sentence (if any) is suspended jail time and/or a suspended fine.

• City Code Ordinance Violation Class 2 - The possible range of sentence for the offense charged ranges from a suspended sentence to a maximum of 5 DAYS jail and/or a fine up to $1,383.00, and the mandatory minimum sentence (if any) is suspended jail time and/or a suspended fine.

• City Code Ordinance Violation Class 3 - The possible range of sentence for the offense charged ranges from a suspended sentence to a maximum of 1 DAY jail and/or a fine up to $938.00, and the mandatory minimum sentence (if any) is suspended jail time and/or a suspended fine.
