Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Assessment

The City of Yuma, in partnership with Yuma County, Elevate Southwest and the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area (Coalition) saw an opportunity to revitalize approximately 107 acres of land located south of Yuma’s Downtown, known as Old Town South, and transform it into a vibrant mixed-use district. To accelerate this vision, the City applied for and was awarded an EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant in 2012 to investigate some long standing environmental concerns and determine which sites should be cleaned up and reused in a way that meets neighborhood and community priorities.
