Rental Inspections

Neighborhood Services’ Rental Inspection Program is designed to protect the health, safety and welfare of persons residing in rental units within a Revitalization Areas All rental units in revitalization neighborhoods are inspected to ensure they meet City of Yuma Housing Code as found in Chapter 138 of the Yuma Code of Ordinances.  When problems are discovered, the owner of the rental property is asked to make repairs. Rental Inspectors follow-up to make sure problems are corrected before rental property is given certification that it meets standards and can be rented.

The Neighborhood Services inspectors must receive permission from the tenant to enter the home for the inspection.   Tenants must provide a signed access form, agreeing to the inspection, but the Tenant does not need to be present during the inspection.  The landlord or property manager can accompany the inspector and grant access to the home if the tenant fills out the access form in advance.
