Carol Smith was raised in Yuma, the daughter of Walt and Karen Johnson. She is a registered nurse and has cared for the smallest and most vulnerable members of our community and their families for nearly 12 years. Her current role as the nurse educator for the NICU and Pediatrics Department at Yuma Regional Medical Center allows her to connect with other healthcare professionals and many of the patients and families seeking care in our city. She knows what a privilege it is to serve others. Carol places a high priority on public safety and the wellbeing of those that live, work and play in Yuma. She has a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona and believes education is a big piece in the foundation for a successful community. She looks forward to the expansion of higher education and working for increased job opportunities in Yuma. Ms Smith has served as a governing board member for Crane School District and understands the importance of looking out for a community as a whole. Carol is a proud mother to her two children, Davey and Winnie Smith. She often reminds them (in the words of JFK), “every accomplishment starts with the decision to try."
