City Of Yuma partners with DocuPet to simplify pet licensing

Post Date:11/21/2024 3:02 PM

The City of Yuma is excited to announce a new partnership with DocuPet, aimed at modernizing and streamlining the pet licensing process. Under Arizona law, all dogs and cats three months of age or older that are kept, harbored or maintained within the City Limits of Yuma must be licensed and registered. Historically, Yuma residents have fulfilled this requirement by registering their pets through the Humane Society of Yuma or at the customer service desk at City Hall. Effective November 12, 2024, this partnership introduces a more convenient and efficient way for residents to license their pets, while also providing a comprehensive pet identification and reunification program.

Through mandatory pet licensing for dogs and cats in Yuma, DocuPet offers a valuable 24/7 HomeSafe® lost pet service, designed to keep pets out of shelters and reunite them with their families quickly and safely. Despite the legal requirement, many local pet owners do not consistently license their pets. This new system seeks to improve compliance and enhance pet safety.

Unique Tags with Added Benefits

Residents can choose from hundreds of vibrant designer tag styles online or create their own using DocuPet’s customization tool. Every DocuPet tag serves as an official pet license and comes with a unique code linked to a secure online profile. If a pet goes missing, the finder can easily reference the code to file a Found Pet Report in seconds. Similarly, pet owners can submit a Lost Pet Report immediately. DocuPet’s 24/7 dispatch team works around the clock to reunite lost pets with their families.

How to License Your Pet

Pet owners are strongly encouraged to register their pets online at yumaaz.docupet.com. The online portal offers the fastest and most convenient way to license your pet, allowing access to DocuPet’s full range of services, including designer tags, the HomeSafe lost pet program and instant updates to your pet’s profile.

Pet owners who previously registered their pets through Shelterluv should know that all existing data has been securely transferred to DocuPet. With the adoption of DocuPet, owners will need to create an account in the new system to access and manage their pet’s information. Once registered, they can easily look up their pet’s details, which will already be available in DocuPet. This ensures a smooth transition and allows pet owners to continue licensing without losing any important records. Pet owners can learn more and register their pets online at yumaaz.docupet.com.

While online registration is the preferred method, licensing can also be completed by phone, mail or in person at the following locations, if necessary:

  • Primary Location: Yuma Police Department’s Araby East Substation, 6390 E. 26th Street (credit card payments only).
  • Secondary Location: Yuma Police Department, 1500 S. 1st Avenue (accepts all payment methods and has an available iPad to utilize for online registration).
  • Temporary Location: Yuma City Hall, One City Plaza (accepts all payment methods; available only until December 31, 2024).

Please note that in-person registration is available as a last resort for those unable to complete the process online. The City of Yuma encourages residents to take advantage of the online system for the most efficient experience.
