Shooting - 2600 Block South Donna Drive (Updated)
05/12/2012 | Sgt. Clint Norred, Patrol
On Friday, 5/11/12 at approximately 10:20 pm, officers from the Yuma Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2600 block South Donna Drive.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Daniel Dillman, a 23 year old white male, shot and killed Jason Snelling, a 27 year old white male and Glenn Curry, a 26 year old white male following a confrontation between the three men.
The initial information suggests that Dillman's life had been threatened by Snelling and Curry immediately prior to the shooting. Curry was armed with a sizeable knife which had been utilized to break out windows on the vehicle that Dillman was seated in at the time of the shooting. The shooting was precipitated by a series of road rage events that started near Giss Parkway and Pacific Ave.
At this time, Dillman's conduct appears to be justifiable as an act of self defense. This matter, however, is still under investigation and although Dillman has been released from police custody, the investigation, once complete, will be submitted to the Yuma County Attorney's Office for review of possible charges.
Anyone with information related to this event is encouraged to contact the Yuma Police Department at (928) 373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
