City Hall to Host High School District Board Meeting on Wednesday

Meeting, Replays to be Televised on City 73 TV

Yuma, Ariz. - For the third consecutive year, Council Chambers at Yuma City Hall will serve as the host site for the May meeting of the Yuma Union High School District Governing Board, which will take place 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 9.

Members of the public are welcome to attend or to watch the meeting live on City 73 TV, the City's government channel, carried locally on Time Warner Cable. City Hall, One City Plaza, is located at 3rd Street between 1st Avenue and Madison Avenue in downtown Yuma.

The City 73 cablecast also streams online at www.yumaaz.gov/tv. Replays of the YUHSD board meeting will run following replays of the most recent Yuma City Council meeting. That means school board replays would begin approximately 30 minutes following 4 p.m. Thursday; noon on Friday; 4 a.m. Saturday; 4 p.m. Sunday; and 3 a.m. May 15.

"The May meeting includes a celebration of student and staff achievements that are of exceptional noteworthiness," said YUHSD Superintendent Toni Badone. "It is a great benefit to have this meeting at the City of Yuma Council Chambers because parents who are homebound could watch their students being acknowledged by the Governing Board. It is also very generous of the City of Yuma to allow us to use the beautiful space for this well-attended meeting."

"If you've seen or attended the district's May meetings in the past, you've no doubt been impressed with how intelligent, passionate, well-spoken and community-minded the students are who report at this meeting. It will make you feel good about Yuma's future."

YUHSD's meeting agenda includes reports about FIRST Robotics Teams, Career and Technical Education competition results, the Unified Track Team, Military Appointments, and student accomplishments of state and national status. Each school's student council will also report on their community service for the year as well as leadership. In addition, faculty members who have achieved Cambridge International Education Coursework Accreditation will be recognized.
