32nd Street Reconstruction, Avenue A Area

Avenue A remains closed to all traffic in both directions between 32nd Street and Holly Drive through at least the early half of the upcoming week. Through traffic should detour using 8th Avenue or 4th Avenue, taking 28th Street or 24th Street to rejoin Avenue A.

Traffic signal installation is under way at 15th Avenue and at 21st Drive. During this phase, some 32nd Street lane closures will be required.

Avenue C, 8th Street to 1st Street and Figueroa - Yuma County

Avenue C is open to local traffic only between 8th Street and Riverside Drive. Through traffic should use Avenue B between 8th Street and 1st Street.

This is part of a Yuma County project where a contractor is widening Avenue C from 8th Street to Figueroa Street and 1st Street and installing a City Of Yuma water main. On the north side of the project, the section between Riverside Drive and Figueroa Street has new pavement but otherwise remains restricted to one lane in each direction.

City of Yuma Street Maintenance

City workers will conduct crack seal and grinding operations the week of Monday, July 16 in the following locations:

• Avenue C from 32nd Street to 40th Street;
• 32nd Street from Avenue C to Avenue D
• Sundance Village subdivision;
• Phehfer Estates subdivision
• 20th Drive from 20th Street to 23rd Street;
• 33rd Drive from 24th Street to 28th Street;
• 25th Street from 19th Avenue to 21st Drive;  

32nd Street, Bonanza to Crest - Private Water and Sewer Installation

Beginning the week of July 18, 32nd Street will experience a series of lane closures between Bonanza Avenue and Crest Drive for water and sewer connections to be made to a private business. The speed limit on 32nd Street will be reduced to 25 mph in this work zone. Work is scheduled to take place for one month.

32nd Street Near Chevy Lane - Private Driveway

Following completion of Bonanza to Crest project (above), the right eastbound lane of 32nd Street will be closed between Chiquita Drive/Chevy Lane and Bonanza Avenue for approximately one month to give crews room to install a right turn lane.

32nd Street by Auto Dealers - Private Driveway

The right eastbound lane of 32nd Street will be closed between Chiquita Drive/Chevy Lane and Bonanza Avenue for approximately one month to give crews room to install a right turn lane.

8th Street at 12th Avenue - Southwest Gas

The right eastbound lane of 8th Street will be closed approaching 12th Avenue when Southwest Gas conducts repair of a leak in this area. Work will take one or two days and date will be within the next month.

Upcoming Projects

Avenue A Between 8th Street and 16th Street

A contractor working for the City will remove and replace the pavement on Avenue A between 8th Street and 16th Street. This project includes drainage improvements and some isolated water line installations in this area. The project also includes pavement replacement at Marcus Pool and at the intersection of 12th Street and Avenue B, northwest corner. Construction is expected to begin in August.

Avenue 3E Bridge, 24th Street to Gila Ridge Road

Construction is expected to begin around the second week of August on the widening of the Avenue 3E bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained during expansion of the bridge, which will be built to include three lanes each direction when complete.
