Aggravated Assault at 4th Avenue Barney's

On Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at about 3:50 p.m., the Yuma Police Department responded to Barney's, 895 South 4th Avenue in reference to an attempted robbery, however the incident was determined to be an aggravated assault.
The initial investigation revealed a black male entered the gas station armed with a machete. While holding the machete in a threatening matter and damaged several pieces of merchandise before exiting the gas station. The suspect fled in a northbound direction in the alleyway between 4th Avenue and Orange Avenue.
The suspect is described to be in his late 20's, early 30's, 5-7, 160 wearing dark clothing and a dark colored bandana over his face. No injuries were reported.
The suspect fled on foot and has not been located.
